Who We Are
Violinist Javier Chaparro is one of the most versatile musicians in Austin today. Born in Lima, Peru, Javier has given solo and chamber music recitals in South America, Central America, the United States and Europe. He has played in the National Symphony orchestra of Peru, the Fine Arts Theater Orchestra in Mexico City, the Austin Symphony, Austin Lyric Opera Orchestra, and Waco Symphony.. He is currently the concertmaster of the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra in College Station, TX. He has had an eclectic career, performing Latin, Jazz, Gypsy, Pop, Country, and Classical as both a band leader and a side-man. He is also an accomplished composer of film soundtracks, and a singer-songwriter.
Pianist Maimy Fong has been an active Austin freelance musician for 30 odd years. With college degrees in accompanying and piano performance from the University of the Pacific and the University of Texas at Austin, her playing career runs the gamut from opera to chamber music to liturgical music and beyond. She has played everywhere from Weill Hall at Carnegie to Dell Hall in Austin, in such ensembles as the Austin Symphony, Brazos Valley Symphony, Austin Opera, Conspirare and Illumine Youth Choirs, and the Round Rock Community Choir. She also teaches piano and coaches vocal repertoire ranging from art song to opera and musical theater.
Liz Lee has performed extensively worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Lee graduated with her DMA in Cello Performance from the University of Texas Butler School of Music studying with the Miró Quartet cellist Joshua Gindele. Past studies include degrees from Rice University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as training in the Juilliard Pre- College division. As a chamber musician, she has performed with artists Ian Swenson, Jorja Fleezanis, Bonnie Hampton, Joel Krosnick, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, eighth blackbird, Bang On A Can All-Stars, and the Colorfield Ensemble. As an orchestral musician, she has performed with the Austin Symphony, Brazos Valley Symphony, Mid-Texas Symphony, Abilene Symphony, Waco Symphony, and Austin Unconducted. Lee has also ventured beyond classical music and has recorded and performed with the Christian rock band Future of Forestry and toured with Fernando Ortega as well as recorded for many independent artists In addition to performing, Lee is a dedicated teacher at Texas Lutheran University and maintains her own independent teaching studio.
